As the mother of an adult with complex autism and bipolar, Wendy understands how challenging the transition from school to life can be for adults with special needs. She firmly believes in equal access to employment, education, and community living for everyone, regardless of their abilities. Wendy is thrilled to serve on the board of Mi Work Matters, an incredible example of supportive employment for people with disabilities in our local community.

In addition to her work with Mi Work Matters, Wendy also holds the position of Governance Chair on The Greening of Detroit board. This organization is actively contributing to climate action in the city through tree plantings and the creation of green jobs. Wendy also contributes her expertise to the Oakland County Health Network Advocacy Committee and the Autism Alliance of Michigan.

Wendy's commitment to community extends beyond these roles. In the past, she has served as the Board President of Transportation Riders United, a nonprofit dedicated to improving public transportation access across Southeast Michigan. She has also been a board member of Intense Mentoring, a nonprofit that assists students who have dropped out of school in returning to complete their education and pursue higher studies.

Professionally, Wendy is a seasoned fundraising executive with over two decades of experience in the nonprofit sector. Her educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Oakland University and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Wendy is also a proud member of the Leadership Detroit Class of XXXIX.

Beyond her professional and philanthropic endeavors, Wendy hosts "Let's Plant Houses," a podcast that showcases the inspiring stories of special needs parents who make the impossible possible.

Wendy is happily married to Bill and has two children, Nicola and Francis. In her leisure time, Wendy enjoys spending quality moments with her family and friends both locally and at her cottage up north. She also values practices like yoga, meditation, and taking leisurely walks with her dog, Ranger.
