Kelly Erickson Rockwell
Executive Director / Cofounder
Kelly Rockwell is a dedicated champion of inclusive opportunities in school, work and everyday life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She is a cofounder of Mi Work Matters and considers leading the organization as the Executive Director a profound privilege.
Her passion and dedication is fueled by her own children, including her daughter Anastasia, who has Down syndrome, and by the many wonderful families she has met along the way. Her various civic service and volunteer roles include serving as a governor appointee on the State of Michigan’s Developmental Disability Council, and coordinating a hands on Disability Awareness Workshop for elementary school students in the Walled Lake Consolidated School District.
Beyond launching Mi Work Matters and their two social enterprise coffee shops, Anastasia and Katie’s Coffee Shop & Cafe and Good and Strong Coffee, Kelly is a subject matter expert in the area of disability employment and an experienced creative marketing professional. She has created award winning designs for Detroit's automotive giants and moved hearts for local nonprofits, using her professional areas of expertise including creative direction, creative strategy, nonprofit marketing and brand identity.
Kelly holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. She loves coffee, dogs, paddle boarding, and reading. Kelly lives in the greater Detroit area with her husband, two children and Spirit, the appropriately named dog.
